Lawrence Jones opens up about eye surgery after 'challenging' absence

Fox anchor Lawrence Jones

Fox and Friends presenter Lawrence B. Jones has revealed the reason behind his recent absence from television screens.

On August 20, the Fox and Friends anchor used social media to update his X followers on why his recovery period might be extended. Jones, 33, initially informed his online "family" that he had undergone "eye surgery due to a retinal tear."

The tear stemmed from a sports injury the Fox News presenter suffered during childhood. Unfortunately, Jones experienced another retina detachment, which he noted was "common after the initial tear." Just a day prior to his tweet and public announcement, Jones had undergone another surgical procedure.

This development comes as a Fox presenter has emerged as the leading candidate for Karoline Leavitt's White House position, reports the Mirror US. Jones wrote, "You may have noticed my recent absence. I've been open about my eye surgery due to a retinal tear.

"However, I later discovered that this was caused by a childhood sports injury," he shared, and added, "Regrettably, I've sustained another retina detachment, which is common after the initial tear. Yesterday, I underwent surgery again with the best care team," he revealed.

"I want to express my deepest gratitude to my colleagues, Fox management, and our audience for their unwavering support during this challenging time. I'm optimistic that I'll be back soon!"

Lawrence's absence has been noticeable on the Fox and Friends panel, as co-host Ainsley Earhardt, 49, seemed to be flip-flopping on air regarding a particular group on August 19. Initially, the conversation centered on the results of Florida's primary races on Tuesday, August 18.
