Part 10: The Clear Channel

By 6:00 a.m., the old harbor terminal was completely quiet again.

The black sedan was being towed away, its tires spinning uselessly against the wet asphalt.

I sat in the passenger seat of Marcus’s SUV, the heater blowing warm air against my hands.

"The server is completely locked down, Claire," Marcus said, handing me a fresh cup of coffee.

"The federal agents are sealing the Hale family assets as we speak. Brenda’s digital trail is compromised."

"The trust account is secure?" I asked.

"Completely liquidated and transferred directly into your firm's development fund," Marcus nodded.

"The Hale family has no remaining leverage against our infrastructure projects."

I looked out at the gray dawn breaking over the horizon.

The danger was contained, but the realization of the family's deep rot felt like a heavy stone in my chest.

They hadn't been business rivals; they had been predators trying to steal a bloodline's future.

"We need to return to the office, Marcus," I said quietly.

"The board meeting is at eight, and I promised Naomi I would be there."

"The car is ready, Boss," Marcus said, shifting the SUV into drive.

We accelerated away from the rusted containers, leaving the dark water of the terminal behind us.
