"I don't need a majority share, Nicholas," I said, standing up to face him.
"Because your proxies don't exist anymore."
Nicholas’s confident smile flickered, a hint of doubt crossing his face.
"What are you talking about? The proxy registry was finalized at 9:00 a.m. today."
I pulled a thin, white folder from my briefcase and handed it to him.
Inside was a certified copy of the corporate card logs from his firm's secondary account.
"Your business partner, Vanessa Hale, signed over the voting rights to my firm three hours ago," I said.
"She did it because she found out you were using her maiden name to register the bad debts from the South Boston project."
Nicholas took a panicked step backward, his polished dress shoes slipping slightly on the icy concrete path.
"The city council meeting tonight isn't a vote on your commercial parking garage," I added.
"It's a formal hearing to dissolve your corporate charter for tax evasion."
