Chapter One: The Hidden Room

The mansion remained silent.

Alejandro never took his eyes off Elena.

She stood barefoot on the marble floor, her hands trembling around the mop handle she had been ordered to carry.

"Come here," he said quietly.

She hesitated.

Not because she didn't recognize him.

Because she had learned that every act of trust carried consequences.

Vivian descended the staircase with perfect composure.

"Alejandro," she said with a polite smile, "she's confused. The poor woman has been working here only a few months."

Alejandro ignored her.

Instead, he noticed something else.

Every member of the household staff avoided looking at Elena.

Not one servant appeared surprised to see him recognize her.

It was as if they had all been living with a secret too frightening to mention.

He turned to the head of security.

"Lock every entrance."

Vivian laughed.

"Really? You're locking down your own house?"

"I'm preserving evidence."

Within minutes, the mansion's digital security system was secured.

Alejandro ordered that no surveillance recordings, access logs, or employee records be altered.

As technicians began reviewing years of archived footage, one anomaly stood out.

A section of the west wing appeared on no cleaning schedules, no maintenance reports, and no guest logs.

Yet electronic door records showed regular activity.

Late that evening, investigators opened a concealed storage room behind the old library.

Inside they found boxes labeled in Elena's handwriting.

Personal journals.

Family photographs.

Letters she had written but never mailed.

And a locked metal case containing medical records and legal documents.

Nothing suggested Elena had disappeared willingly.

Everything suggested her life had been systematically erased.
