Chapter Four: Home Again

Nearly a year later, sunlight filled the gardens of the Castillo estate.

The mansion no longer felt like a prison.

Many of the employees who had quietly helped investigators remained with the household.

Others had chosen new beginnings.

Alejandro and Elena transformed the unused west wing into the Elena Castillo Family Resource Center, providing legal guidance and temporary assistance for families facing complicated guardianship and identity disputes.

One afternoon, Elena returned to the library where investigators had discovered her journals.

She opened the final notebook.

The last unfinished sentence read:

"If Alejandro ever finds me..."

She smiled gently.

Then she wrote beneath it:

"He did."

Alejandro entered carrying two cups of coffee.

"Ready?" he asked.

"For what?"

"To stop looking backward."

She closed the journal.

"I think I am."

Together they walked through the front doors of the mansion—not as people trapped by the past, but as two people finally free to build an honest future.
