Part 5: Beyond the Glass

Later that evening, the brothers stood on the expansive glass terrace of the penthouse, looking out over the glittering skyline of Manhattan. The city was just as loud and chaotic as it had been twenty-four hours ago, but the world beneath their feet had fundamentally shifted.

Leo held two crystal glasses of water, handing one to his brother. He noticed Oliver was staring down at his polished leather shoes, looking uncomfortable.

"They take some getting used to," Leo said softly, nodding at the shoes.

Oliver let out a small, quiet laugh—the first real smile his brother had ever seen on his face. "They're heavy. On the street, you want to be light. You want to be able to move fast."

Leo placed a hand on Oliver's shoulder, his grip firm and steady.

"You don't have to run anymore," Leo told him, his eyes fierce with loyalty. "If anyone tries to push you away now, they have to push through me first."

Oliver looked at the hand on his shoulder, then up at his twin. The anger and pain that had defined his youth didn't disappear instantly—healing doesn't work that way—but for the first time in twenty-two years, the coldness in his chest began to thaw.

Below them, the city lights blinked like a million silent witnesses. The family had been broken by an empire built on greed, but out on the cold asphalt of Manhattan, dignity had refused to be erased. They had found each other, and this time, no amount of money would ever be powerful enough to tear them apart.
