“I need a full sweep,” Robert told David over the phone. “Everything on Isabella Rossi. Everything on the Thorne acquisitions. I want to know why a mistress feels comfortable enough to assault a pregnant woman in a public building.”
By dawn, the pale light of morning creeping through the hospital windows, Robert returned to my private recovery room. He carried a thick, printed file. He looked exhausted, but his eyes were sharp and unyielding.
“How are you feeling?” he asked, sitting beside my bed.
