Part 2: The Fitting Room Cruelty

The grand fitting suite at Laurent House Bridal was an oasis of luxury, featuring hand-carved mirrors, pristine marble floors, and a private champagne bar. Vanessa stood atop the plush velvet pedestal, preening in the "Belladonna"—a breathtaking $48,000 gown featuring eighty hours of custom embroidery.
In the corner, little Lily stood quietly, wearing a delicate flower-girl dress Claire had lovingly fashioned for her. It was a beautiful piece, adorned with sparkling glass beads that caught the light perfectly. When Lily took a timid step forward, the boutique's photographer gasped in genuine delight. "Oh, look at you! You look like a little princess."
The compliment was an accidental match thrown into a powder keg of insecurity. Vanessa’s face twisted in immediate, ugly rage. No one was supposed to look like royalty except her.
"This is my day!" Vanessa snapped, her voice cutting through the soft ambient music. "She is upstaging me on purpose!"
Before anyone could comprehend her movements, Vanessa grabbed a pair of heavy fabric scissors from a nearby alterations cart.
"Vanessa, what are you doing?" Diane called out half-heartedly.
Vanessa didn't answer. With a malicious sneer, she lunged toward the terrified six-year-old. The heavy steel blades closed through the delicate fabric of Lily's skirt, slicing a jagged, ruined path through the layers of tulle and lace.

"There," Vanessa hissed, turning to her bridesmaids. "Now no one should be prettier than the bride. Laugh, you guys. It's a joke."
Spurred by fear and social obligation, two bridesmaids nervously giggled, raising their phones to record the crying child huddled beneath her ruined dress. Lily flinched, big tears rolling down her cheeks, her small world shattering in a room full of adults who chose to laugh at her pain.
