Part 3: Unmasking the Designer

Claire entered the suite just as the scissors clattered against the marble floor. She didn't scream. She didn't fly into a frantic rage. Instead, an icy, absolute stillness washed over her—the kind of calm that precedes a catastrophic storm. She walked directly to Lily, gently wrapping her sobbing daughter in a silk robe, before standing up to face her niece.

"Remove my company’s unpaid gown from her possession," Claire said, her voice dropping to a terrifyingly quiet register.

The boutique manager, Elena, immediately stepped forward, accompanied by two assistants unfolding a tall, white privacy screen.

Vanessa’s smug smile instantly vanished. "You can’t do this to me! Who do you think you are?"

Claire calmly closed the black leather portfolio she was holding.

"I can," Claire said, her eyes locking onto Vanessa with the force of a vice. "I own this boutique."

For several agonizing seconds, the room fell dead silent. The bridesmaids froze. Vanessa stared at Claire as though her aunt had suddenly spoken in a completely foreign language.

"You fix hems," Vanessa scoffed, her voice trembling slightly as she tried to maintain her fragile illusion of superiority.

"I design every single gown in this building," Claire replied evenly.

"No. You're lying," Vanessa shook her head, backed into a corner by her own ignorance. "The owner of Laurent House is Celeste Laurent."

Elena stepped directly beside Claire, her posture rigid with professional pride. "Ms. Claire Laurent is the founder, principal designer, and sole owner of Laurent House Bridal."

The revelation hit the room like a physical blow. Vanessa looked around the magnificent atelier—the hand-carved mirrors, the elite celebrity clientele list, the private suites booked months in advance by old Manhattan wealth. Every single inch of this empire belonged to the woman she had spent years treating like a charity case.
