Arya remained locked in the supreme security bunker beneath the mansion, protected by twenty elite guards who answered only to Dante. She watched the news feeds on the wall monitors, her heart in her throat as she saw the cost of her security written in smoke and sirens across the city skyline.
One evening, the heavy vault door of the bunker unsealed with a loud hiss of pneumatics.
Dante walked in. He looked exhausted, his white shirt stained with engine grease and a single splatter of dry blood near the cuff. He held a leather folder in his hand, throwing it onto the small table in front of her.
"It’s over," he said, sinking onto the couch beside her, pulling her into his lap without ceremony.
Arya opened the folder. Inside were signed surrender documents from the surviving Lucchese leadership, alongside a deed of absolute transfer for the entire Columbus shipping terminal.

He placed his hand over her stomach, feeling the slight, warm curve beneath her dress. "Everything I took from the city over the last twenty-one days belongs to this child, Arya. I built a fortress of bones to make sure your baby never has to work a day in his life."
