Chapter 14 - The Safehouse SanctuaryWith the war concluded, Dante moved Arya to the ultimate safehouse wing—a newly constructed penthouse addition atop the estate mansion, featuring independent air filtration, bulletproof floor-to-ceiling glass, and a private medical suite staffed by top-tier obstetricians who had been vetted by syndicate security.

Arya stood by the glass window, looking out over the sprawling estate grounds. Her mother, Elena, was downstairs in the guest villa, her cancer officially in complete remission, living a life of luxury she had never dreamed possible.
The poverty that had defined Arya’s entire existence was gone. Her hands were soft now, healed by expensive salves, the skin pale and flawless. But when she looked at her reflection in the glass, she still saw the girl on her knees with the scrub brush.
Dante stepped up behind her, wrapping his arms around her waist, burying his face into the crook of her neck.
"Are you happy, Arya?" he murmured.
She turned in his embrace, looking up into the eyes of the man who had manipulated her life, rewritten her destiny, and slaughtered his own associates to keep her.
"You're a monster, Dante," she said softly, her voice devoid of malice, carrying only a profound, grounded realism. "You broke the law, you lied to me about my medication, and you trapped me in this house."

Dante smiled, a small, dark, and utterly charming twist of his lips. "I am a monster to the world, my love. But I am your monster. If I had played by the rules, your mother would be dead, you would still be scrubbing dishes for minimum wage, and Vincente would have sold you to a rival crew the moment he discovered your father's file."
He kissed her forehead, a gesture that felt like a coronation. "The world is cruel to poor women, Arya. I simply used my cruelty to build you a sanctuary."
