Chapter 16 - The Second WeddingThe announcement shocked everyone.

Lorenzo and Vivien were getting married again.
But this time there was no grand ballroom.
No politicians.
No businessmen.
No mysterious guests.
Just family.
A small ceremony at Ravenwood.
The public believed it was romantic.
The truth was different.
It was bait.
Mara had tracked the names from Lucia's flash drive.
Three members of the Circle remained active.
One was in Europe.
One was in Washington.
And one was already inside Ravenwood.
Lorenzo didn't know which.
The wedding began at sunset.
Emma stood beside Vivien as maid of honor.
She was nervous.
"Do I have to cry?"
Vivien smiled.
"Only if you want."
Emma whispered:
"I might."
The ceremony started.
Lorenzo looked at Vivien.
No secrets.
No disguises.
No fear.
"I choose you," he said.
Vivien's eyes filled with tears.
"I choose you too."
Then the lights went out.
Everyone froze.
A scream came from the hallway.
Mara shouted:
"LOCKDOWN!"
Emergency lights activated.
Lorenzo grabbed Vivien.
"Stay with Emma."
"I won't leave you."
"You have to."
A gunshot echoed from the east wing.
Lorenzo ran.
He found one of the guards unconscious.
Beside him was a note.
YOU INVITED US.
He opened the east wing door.
Someone had broken into the library.
The old photographs were scattered across the floor.
One photograph had been circled in red.
His sister Lucia.
Behind him, Vivien whispered:
"Lorenzo."
He turned.
She held another photograph.
It showed his father.
But standing beside him was a younger man Lorenzo had never seen.
Vivien stared at the picture.
"My mother used to call him the Architect."
"Who is he?"
She pointed to the man's face.
"Your father."
Lorenzo froze.
"What?"
Vivien shook her head.
"No."
She turned the photograph over.
A second name was written there.
THE ARCHITECT WAS NOT YOUR FATHER.
It was someone else.
May you like
Someone Lorenzo knew.
Someone standing in Ravenwood.
