Chapter 7 - The WeddingThe chapel filled at seven.

Every important person arrived.

Businessmen.

Lawyers.

Politicians.

Family members.

Friends.

And enemies pretending to be friends.

I stood at the altar.

My suit was black.

My expression calm.

Inside, my heart was pounding.

Then Vivien walked in.

She wore white.

For a moment, everything seemed normal.

She reached me.

“You look terrified.”

“I am.”

She smiled.

“Good.”

The ceremony began.

The priest spoke.

Guests watched.

Victor sat in the front row.

The wedding planner stood beside him.

Mara waited outside.

Daniel was hidden beneath the chapel.

Emma sat beside Elena.

She held her rabbit.

When the vows ended, Victor stood.

“Before the signing,” he said.

The room went quiet.

I looked at him.

He smiled.

“You know what must happen.”

He placed the contract on the table.

I picked up the pen.

Vivien looked at me.

I nodded.

Then I signed.

Victor smiled.

But he didn't notice the pen had been switched.

The signature was false.

Mara had prepared it.

The contract was invalid.

Victor's smile disappeared when the lawyers examined it.

“What is this?”

I stood.

“The end.”

The chapel doors locked.

Federal agents entered.

Victor looked around.

“You wouldn't.”

“I would.”

He turned toward Vivien.

“You.”

She looked at him.

“You tried to kill me.”

“You were supposed to disappear.”

“I know.”

Victor's face twisted.

“You betrayed us.”

“No.”

Vivien stepped closer.

“I betrayed you.”

The wedding planner pulled a gun.

Daniel tackled him.

Chaos erupted.

People screamed.

Security moved.

Victor tried to escape through the rear door.

I followed.

He ran into the basement.

Exactly where I wanted him.

He stopped when he saw the safe.

The ledger.

The evidence.

Everything.

“You think this ends me?”

“No.”

I looked at him.

“The truth does.”

Federal agents arrested him.

The wedding guests were questioned.

The organization collapsed over the following weeks.

But there was one final problem.

May you like

Victor had one last secret.

My mother was still alive.
