Chapter 6: The Silent Witness Speaks

One rainy afternoon, Arthur was cleaning up Lily's playroom when he found a drawing shoved under her bed. It was drawn in crayon. It depicted a grand staircase. At the bottom was a white angel with a red halo of blood. At the top was a monster scribbled entirely in dark purple, pushing the angel with two distinct hands.

Arthur’s blood ran cold. He remembered the cane. The police report stated the cane was on Eleanor's right side. But his mother was fiercely left-handed due to a stroke years ago. She couldn't have slipped and dropped it to her right. She had been ripped away from it. He looked at his daughter, who was standing in the doorway.

"Lily," Arthur whispered, tears filling his eyes. "Did you see it?"

The little girl slowly nodded.
