Chapter 13 - The ExodusEthan didn't look at the papers. He looked toward his mother, who was still shivering beneath the heavy towel, looking smaller than she ever had.

“I became successful because my mother sacrificed everything for me,” Ethan said, his voice echoing off the glass walls of the mansion. “She starved so I could eat. She worked three jobs so I could have an education. Every dollar I have is built on the foundation of her broken bones.”
He turned his gaze back to Vanessa, and for the first time, his voice carried a terrifying weight of finality. “And today... you treated her like she was worth nothing.”
Vanessa tried to step forward, her eyes filling with genuine tears of panic now as she realized her entire life of luxury was evaporating. “I was angry, Ethan! It was just one mistake!”
The billionaire’s voice remained calm, steady, and devastating. “No. Pushing someone into a pool is a mistake. Treating my mother with cruelty was a choice.”
Silence settled over the party like a heavy shroud. Vanessa looked around desperately, but her friends were already looking away, checking their phones, pretending to be anywhere else.
