Chapter 13 - The Flash Drive

Ophelia turned back to Nora, victory blazing in her eyes. But as she looked at her daughter-in-law, the triumphant sneer faltered. Nora was looking down at the water, and she was smiling. Not a cruel smile, just a quiet, satisfied one.
“What are you smiling at?” Ophelia demanded, her voice suddenly tight. Nora lifted her eyes to meet the billionaire’s gaze. “You really shouldn’t have done that. The diamond was expensive, yes. But the ring was never the important part.” Reaching into the hidden seam of her silk gown, Nora extracted a small black drive, no bigger than a matchbook. “The important part was what you believed was inside it.” For the first time in her long, ruthless life, Ophelia Fairchild looked genuinely confused. “Insurance,” Nora whispered.
