Chapter 14 - The Verdict of the BoardTwo months later, the corporate headquarters of Sterling Secure Systems was bathed in the warm light of an autumn afternoon.

The boardroom was filled once more, but the atmosphere was completely different. The old, corrupt board members who had supported Daniel had been replaced by prominent, highly respected industry experts selected personally by Miriam Cole.
Claire sat at the head of the table. She wore a simple, elegant dark blue suit, her face clear, the bruises long gone.
"The transition is complete, Dr. Sterling," Miriam said, handing her the final corporate restructuring documents.
"Daniel’s shares have been officially forfeited under the corporate felony clause and redistributed to the Emma & Ethan Memorial Foundation. The federal defense contract has been approved, and our new public safety sensors are being deployed in schools across thirty states."
The board members stood up, clapping in unison—a genuine, respectful ovation for the woman who had saved the company from destruction.

Claire smiled, a soft, quiet expression of peace. "Thank you, everyone. Let’s get to work. We have a lot of families to protect."
As the board members filtered out of the room, Claire walked to the large window, looking out over the city. She knew that her work was just beginning, but the foundation was finally solid.
