Chapter 5 - The Master SignatureDaniel’s face flushed with anger. He stepped forward, trying to block her path. "Claire, what are you doing here? This is an executive session. You are mentally unstable, and you need to leave immediately before I have security remove you."

"I wouldn't call security if I were you, Daniel," Miriam Cole said, stepping forward and dropping a thick leather binder onto the center of the mahogany table.
"What is this?" Daniel demanded.
"This," Miriam said, "is the original corporate charter of Sterling Secure Systems, founded by Claire’s father, Arthur Sterling, in 2008. If you turn to page seventy-four, under Section 9: The Founder's Sovereignty, you will find a very specific clause."
Claire sat down in the vacant chair at the opposite end of the table, folding her hands calmly.
"My father knew that marriage can sometimes blind a person to a partner's true nature," Claire explained, her voice steady and echoing with absolute authority.
"He inserted a non-negotiable clause. In the event that any shareholder attempt to seize control of the company through allegations of mental incapacity, the accused party has the right to trigger an immediate, independent forensic audit of all corporate transactions, communication logs, and personal bank accounts of the accuser."
The board members looked at each other, murmurs of concern breaking out.
"This is ridiculous!" Vanessa hissed from her seat near the window. "We are trying to protect the company from her madness!"
"The audit has already been triggered," Claire said, looking directly at Vanessa. "And the forensic accountants have already found the three million dollars Daniel transferred from our corporate R&D fund to a private offshore account in the Cayman Islands—registered under your name, Vanessa."

Daniel’s heart skipped a beat. He looked at his CFO, who was staring down at his lap, refusing to meet his eyes.
"The audit is automatic, Daniel," Claire whispered. "And it cannot be stopped."
