Marcus’s ace in the hole had been the psychological evaluation branding me as paranoid and volatile. But Dana’s team tore it to shreds. Subpoenaed emails between Marcus and the therapist revealed a coordinated hit job. Marcus had supplied a list of "symptoms" prior to my appointment. Worse, the clinic received massive anonymous donations from a Hale charitable foundation. When the unedited, full medical report was recovered, the truth shone through. Marcus’s legal team had doctored the document submitted to the court. The original report contained a heavily redacted final sentence: Patient appears fearful of spouse’s reaction and may not be able to communicate freely in his presence. Screening for domestic coercion recommended. The facade of Marcus Hale, the concerned husband, was disintegrating rapidly.
